Who is Michelle Lea?
I am an all American girl, currently residing in South Louisiana with my sweet family and fun dogs. Sometimes hearing a good rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” or the sight of the red, white, and blue waving in the wind can bring me to tears. I believe in Jesus, family, and freedom. I enjoy a fresh “bowl” (because a cup is not enough) of coffee for breakfast, and often repeat that in the afternoon.
I began shooting with 35mm and medium format film in 1999. I then made the switch to digital photography in 2004. Now, with over 18 years of experience, I believe classic never goes out of style and timeless always trumps trendy.
And so goes my photography aesthetic: Classic. Natural. Ambient.
I collect old cameras, and never sell my outdated ones. I am the girl next door, an old friend. I believe in authentic documentation and the power of photography to be a window into the heart of its subjects. Sessions are warm and relaxed.
Away from the camera, I enjoy cycling the Tammany Trace, camping and camp fires, paddle boarding at the lake or near a beach, volleyball, good music and smooth fun jazz. Traveling resets my energy and creative panels. I like airshows and appreciate the beauty and history of old war birds and the sweet sound of turbine engines – the “Blue Angels” rock. I prefer reading and learning something new over sitcom TV surfing, on any given day.
Cheers! - Michelle Lea
